The GTS 130 is the least expensive Sea-Doo you can buy this summer. Designed for recreation, this three-passenger, entry-level watercraft will appeal to riders and their families who simply want to enjoy a cool time on the lake without breaking the bank.
Proven components
Built on the same architecture as the GTI series, the 2013 Sea-Doo GTS 130 boasts a modern, edgy design that looks much pricier than it is and will most certainly turn heads. Nestled within the composite hull is a 1,494cc, naturally aspirated Rotax 4-TEC engine. Specifically designed for marine use, this versatile, dependable unit not only provides quicker acceleration and a higher top speed, but also works hand-in-hand with ride-by-wire Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC) for more precise engine calibration and better fuel economy. Speaking of which, an Eco mode reduces consumption by up to 46% at full throttle.
At speed, you can choose between two different operating modes at the flick of a switch: Touring and Sport. What's more, features like a Learning Key will let you customize your riding experience to various skill levels.
Unlike the more upscale models in the lineup, however, the 2013 Sea-Doo GTS 130 doesn't come with reverse, which will make it a little harder to navigate around a tight dock or launch ramp. On the plus side, Off-Throttle Assisted Steering (OTAS) will improve manoeuvrability in off-throttle situations.
Cheap, but still nicely equipped
For your convenience, the 2013 Sea-Doo GTS 130 features an 18-function, digital information centre with easy-to-read gauges, wide-angle mirrors that will help you keep an eye on what's in your wake, as well as a large and accommodating swim platform for hanging out or reboarding (a fold-down reboarding step is optional).
Finally, a tow hook in the back makes it ready for watersports, while a spacious compartment up front offers 110 litres of water-resistant storage for stowing away anything you want to bring along.
Available in White/Lucky Green, the 2013 Sea-Doo GTS 130 starts at $9,299. Its most direct rivals are the Yamaha VX Sport and Kawasaki STX-15F.
